Nikon D5300 to come packed with WiFi and GPS, unlike the D610

The Nikon D5300 is rumored to feature both GPS and WiFi functionality and these two features are said to skip past the D610.

Nikon will replace both the D5200 and D600 soon. More and more evidence that the two cameras are facing the ax has appeared over the past few weeks.

The Japan-based company has already taken the D600 off the Minimum Authorized Price list and the D5100 has also been removed. Although it has not had its first birthday yet, it is only a matter of time until the D5200 will suffer the same fate.

Nikon D5200 might be replaced soon by the D5300, which will feature WiFi and GPS functionality.

Despite all that, the new cameras will not represent major upgrades over their predecessors. According to the rumor mill, the Nikon D5300 will distinguish itself from its forerunner with the addition of WiFi and GPS connectivity features.

On the other hand, the D610 will only have the Nikon D600 dust issue solved, while everything else will remain intact. This means that the upcoming full frame camera will not pack GPS or WiFi. The only other possible modification is a new shutter system, but this remains to be determined at a later time.

The Nikon D610 will feature a 24.3-megapixel full frame sensor, 3.2-inch LCD screen, full HD video recording, 100% optical viewfinder, 6,400 maximum ISO sensitivity, and an autofocus system with 39 points, including nine cross-type points.

The Nikon D5300 will most likely come with a 24.1-megapixel APS-C image sensor, EXPEED 4 processor, 3-inch articulated LCD screen, ISO up to 25,600 (through in-camera settings), built-in stereo microphone, and a continuous shooting mode of up to 5 frames per second.

Nikon D600 and D5200 prices have been lowered recently

Nikon’s current-generation cameras are available with a discount. Amazon has recently begun selling the D600 for only $1,896.95. The price has been decreased right after the camera’s removal from the MAP list, as stated above.

The D5200 can be purchased for $696.95, which is 13% less than the original price. Still, this is not a significant reduction, though it is welcomed by photographers as less than one year has passed since the camera has been released.

In the meantime, Nikon remains quiet and does not comment on rumors and speculation, while a lot of users are complaining about the D600’s dust / oil accumulation problem.
