Canon 7D DSLR camera will be discontinued this June, source says

An unnamed distributor of Canon products, which has revealed accurate details about the company’s plans in the past, is claiming that it has been instructed to label the Canon 7D as nearing its “end of life” this month.

This means that Canon is preparing to discontinue the EOS 7D and will finally make this decision at the end of June. Once a camera gets discontinued, it is paving the way for a replacement. In this case, the replacement has been rumored multiple times and it consists of the EOS 7D Mark II.

The source has not revealed whether or not it has received any information regarding the existence of the Canon 7D Mark II, but there are few chances for the camera maker to abandon its high-end APS-C series. Add this to the fact that Nikon is working on a D300s successor and it becomes clear that we will see an heir to the 7D during the third quarter of 2014, just like the rumor mill has previously said.

Canon set to test the EOS 7D Mark II at the 2014 World Cup

The last time we spoke about the Canon 7D Mark II we have revealed that the DSLR camera will be tested at the 2014 World Cup. This major sporting event begins on June 12 in Brazil and lasts for a month. It is the perfect place to test the camera before it gets pushed to the market.

A lot of voices are saying that a replacement for the 7D should have been launched a long time ago as Canon has missed several sports-related events in 2014, including the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Despite being rumored to be substituted soon, the Canon 7D is keeping itself steady at Amazon, where it is available for around $1,300 with plenty of units in stock. Stick with us for more details!
