Fujifilm XP80 revealed as a rugged compact camera

Fujifilm XP80 revealed as a rugged compact camera

Fujifilm’s last announcement of the day consists of the FinePix XP80 rugged compact camera, which can withstand almost anything nature can throw at it.

It has been a busy day for Fujifilm as the Japan-based company has revealed the X-A2 mirrorless camera, the XC 16-50mm OIS II and XC 50-230 OIS II lenses, the XQ2 compact camera, and the S9900W / S9800 bridge cameras so far.

There is one more announcement and it involves a different type of camera. The new FinePix XP80 is a rugged device that is resistant to water, shocks, dust, and freezing temperatures, meaning that it is aimed at adventurers.

WiFi-ready Fujifilm XP80 is a new sturdy compact camera for action photographers

The rugged Fujifilm XP80 is the perfect camera for all-action photography, as it is waterproof down to 15 meters / 50 feet, shockproof to drops from 1.75-meter / 5.8 feet heights, freezeproof to temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius / 14 degrees Fahrenheit, and dustproof.

Using this camera, users can capture photos and videos underwater, while raining or snowing. Fuji says that users will not have to worry about accidentally dropping the camera or opening the SD card’s hatch, which comes with a double-lock mechanism.

The shooter comes with an Action Camera mode, which turns off the LCD in order to preserve battery life and allow users to capture photos without using their hands.

Fuji’s latest action camera features integrated WiFi, so photographers can remotely control the FinePix XP80 with the help of a smartphone or tablet.
