The Fujifilm X20 has been discontinued at B&H Photo Video in order to make way for its replacement, which is coming this summer under the name of Fujifilm X30.

Fujifilm is rumored to announce several cameras in the following months. The X-Pro2 will be revealed as the X-Pro1 replacement in late 2014 or early 2015 and it may feature a full frame organic sensor. However, the X200 and the X30 should both be released sooner than that.

The latest gossip talks concerning the Japan-based company are referring to the Fuji X30. This appears to be the next X-series camera to be unveiled, as the Fuji X20 has just been discontinued by B&H Photo Video, while unconfirmed reports are claiming that stocks are pretty low at other retailers as well.

Fujifilm X20 discontinued at B&H Photo Video. The compact camera is rumored to be replaced this summer by the Fujifilm X30.

The news that B&H Photo Video has discontinued the Fujifilm X20 comes several months after an inside source began claiming that a replacement would become official in 2014.

Moreover, the source has previously said that we should expect the announcement to take place sometime during the summer. The spring is almost over and the summer begins in a couple of weeks, therefore the timing could not have been better.

It is worth noting that the Japanese company has not made an official announcement regarding the status of the X20. Additionally, the camera is still available at Amazon for a price around $450 and there is no information regarding stock levels.

For the time being, the only “known” feature of the Fujifilm X30 is the fact that the compact camera will feature an image sensor larger than 1-inch-type sensors. This means that it will have a better chance when competing against the new Sony RX100 III.

About the Fujifilm X20

Fujifilm has announced the X20 compact camera at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013. It replaces the X10 with a new 12-megapixel 2/3-inch-type X-Trans CMOS II image sensor and EXR Processor II.

In addition, the X20 sports a built-in optical viewfinder and a 2.8-inch LCD screen on the back. The maximum ISO sensitivity stands at 12,800, while the highest resolution for video recording is set at 1920 x 1080 and a frame rate of 60fps.

The X20 features the same lens as the X10, providing a 35mm equivalent of 28-112mm and a maximum aperture of f/2-2.8. As stated above, the Fuji X30 is supposed to become official this summer with numerous and major improvements. Stay tuned for more details!
